A total of 2,800 people have been brutally killed by suspected ADF rebels in the Beni region of North Kivu in eastern DRC since 2014. These figures were given on Thursday 2 January 2020 by the coordination of the new civil society in the cities of Beni-Butembo as well as the territories of Beni and Lubero in an open letter addressed to the Head of State.
The facilitators of this structure call on Félix Tshisekedi to find an urgent solution to the situation in this part of the country while making the following recommendations:
1. Urgently reflect on the social situation of the victims of the massacres, including orphans, widowers and widowers;
2. The replacement of some military authorities who have already spent many years in the Beni region;
3. Raise all political and administrative authorities from the top to the bottom;
4. Cleanse the national army of all the infiltrated elements, especially the mixing and brewing that have never left North Kivu province and which continue to tarnish its image and cited in the reports of national and international organizations.
