Residents of Beni, North Kivu, celebrated Christmas peacefully, far from the bursts of weapons that characterize this corner of eastern DRC. It was in complete safety that the Benitians and Benitiennes headed in a warm atmosphere in their respective churches before invading the bistros to share a drink.
This Thursday, December 26, everything is still running normally. Small shops have opened their doors, some locals are peacefully reaching their workplaces.
It should be noted that the Head of State, Felix Antoine Tshisekedi during his last visit to Beni, had promised the Benitian people that they would celebrate christmas and New Year in total security.
