The various African stadiums vibrated on Friday 27 December, to the rhythm of the 3rd day of the group stage of the CAF Champions League. On the one hand, AS Vclub held the Sporting Esperance of Tunis in check (0-0) and on the other, TP Mazembe and Primeiro do Agosto were neutralized (1-1).
After conceding two consecutive defeats, the Muscovites made a good move on the turf of the title-holder team of this competition. Yet dominated by Tunisians, Florent Ibenge's men resisted the various Esperantist onslaughts. In this super-important encounter for Vclub, the doorman Nelson Lukong played his role as the last bulwark to the bottom allowing these teammates to avoid the worst.
Despite this result snatched away on the move, no change to report in Group D, because the "Bana Vea" are still good last with 1 point while the Esperantists keep their leader's chair with 7 points.
The Ravens of TP Mazembe forced the Angolans of Primeiro do Agosto to share the point. In a balanced game, Pamphile Mihayo's men opened the scoring through their captain, Rainford Kalaba with a lovely header. Just a minute after the opening goal, the Angolans came back to score after a hesitation in Mazembe's defence.
Despite the various offensives on both sides, the score remained intact until the final whistle. As in the quarter-finals last season, the two teams split back to back.
With this draw snatched from the outside, Mazembe consolidates his leader's chair with now 7 points.
