Armed bandits intercepted and took away a sum of 17,000,000 FC on Wednesday (December 25th) for the pay of teachers in Kabalo territory in Tanganyika province. The sum was withdrawn by the state's senior accountant at the Bank in Kongolo before being caught by the attackers on the Kalemie road, the sources said.
Indeed, on board the motorcycles on the way back, the members of the team led by the senior accountant were attacked by the road cutters at the Luvituka Bridge towards Kitule. These unidentified armed men came out of the bush firing bullets and managed to take that money and disappeared into the bush with their loot.
This operation took place some 50 km from the territory of Kongolo.
This envelope was intended for the pay of teachers of the Provincial Division of EPST/Tanganyika II, based in Kabalo for the month of December 2019. The Provincial Directorate of EPST/Tanganyika sent a team of agents to Kongolo headed by the provincial accountant to withdraw the money from the bank.
After the attack, security forces based in Kabalo territory were dispatched to the scene of the robbery for investigations to find the attackers, the source said.
